If you have successfully built a Manager Hierarchy when uploading an employee file, you will be able to view your organization in a hierarchy tree structure on the Hierarchy Tab under the Employees section.
The options to view and navigate a hierarchy are as follows:
- View Employee Information
- View Direct Reports
- Hide Direct Reports
- Search for Employees
- View Errors in the Hierarchy File
View Employee Information
To view more information about an employee in the hierarchy file, click on the name of the employee. Currently the employee information will display the employee's full Name, Email, Manager Name, number of direct reports, and number of people managed.
View Direct Reports
All managers who have direct reports will have a box with a down arrow next to their name. To view the direct reports for any manager, click the down arrow to the left of that manager, and the list will expand to show all direct reports. When the hierarchy is expanded to view a manager's direct reports it will remain open until it is manually closed to hide direct reports.
Hide Direct Reports
To collapse the list and hide direct reports click the up arrow to the left of a manager.
Search for Employees
To search for an employee, begin typing the name of the employee. The system will display a type-ahead with all employees that match the characters you have typed so far and will also display the email.
When you select the employee, the hierarchy will open to the location of that employee in the organizational structure.
View Errors in the Hierarchy File
There are two types of errors that the Hierarchy Navigator highlights: Broken Chains, and Orphans.
If the Supervisor ID field has a value that does not exist in the Employee Identifier field, it will not properly build this employee and their direct reports into the hierarchy and will be in a separate section called "Broken Chains."
If the Supervisor ID field is left blank, it will not properly build this employee into the hierarchy and will be in a separate section called "Orphans."
