Dimension (Quality) Score Calculation and Display

How are the favorability scores calculated for dimensions (previously qualities)?

At a high level, a percent favorable dimension score is calculated as a weighted average by taking the sum of all favorable responses across all items in the dimension and dividing by the sum of all responses received across these items.

Dimension favorability scores are displayed on the following pages on the dashboard:

When are benchmarked dimension favorability scores displayed?

If a dimension in a survey is comprised of benchmarked questions only, a benchmarked dimension favorability score is displayed for that dimension. If a dimension includes custom questions, the system will not display a benchmarked dimension favorability score.

How are dimension favorability scores calculated when questions are tagged to multiple dimensions?

If a question is tagged to two or more dimensions, then the system will calculate and display dimension favorability scores for both dimensions

How are dimension favorability score calculated in combined surveys?

To combine surveys, a user must select a survey as a base survey and can then combine other surveys with it. In a combined survey, dimension favorability scores are displayed only if all questions in a dimension of the base survey are present in the non-base survey(s).

Detailed calculation rules for different scenarios are explained below:

  1. If all questions in the base survey exist in the non-base survey and these questions are also in the same dimensions as the base survey, then dimension favorability scores and benchmarked dimension favorability scores will display in the combined survey.
  2. If all questions in the base survey exist in the non-base survey but the questions are in different dimensions, then questions will be re-categorized into the dimensions in the base survey and dimension favorability scores and benchmarked dimension favorability scores will display in the combined survey.
  3. If questions from the base survey exist in the non-base survey and they are also in the same dimensions as the base survey AND unique questions exist in the non-base survey in unique dimensions, then dimension scores and benchmarked dimension scores will display for dimensions that exist in the base survey where all of the questions in the dimension also exist in the non-base survey. Unique questions from non-base surveys will display separately with their corresponding question benchmark favorability score but without displaying the dimension label or the dimension favorability score. Hovering over the questions will indicate the non-base surveys they are included in and corresponding n size for those non-base surveys
  4. If questions from the base survey exist in non-base survey and they are also in the same dimensions as the base survey AND unique questions in the non-base survey are added to the base survey dimensions, then dimension favorability scores and benchmarked dimension favorability scores will be calculated using the composition of base survey’s questions only. Unique questions from non-base surveys will display separately with their corresponding question benchmark score but without displaying the dimension label or dimension favorability score. Hovering over the questions will indicate the non-base surveys they are included in and the corresponding n size for those non-base surveys.
  5. If questions from the base survey are missing from non-base survey, then dimension favorability scores are not displayed in combined surveys
